Unravelling diversity, inclusion and unconscious bias in decision-making for a more equitable future.

Training options to tackle unconscious bias in workplace decision-making and promote diversity and inclusion.

Research shows that diversity and inclusion within business lead to greater profitability, greater innovation and creativity, happier teams, and happier customers. A barrier to DEI, however, is unconscious bias. Unconscious or ‘hidden’ bias refers to attitudes and patterns of perceptions that are held subconsciously - i.e. that professionals don’t realise they hold when making managerial decisions. As opposed to overt bias, these subconscious views can influence thoughts and actions of managers, resulting in the creation of unfair advantages or disadvantages towards certain groups (including discrimination) without the decision-maker’s awareness. Training in diversity, inclusion, and unconscious bias, such as ours, aims to create awareness of this pervasive issue and introduce methods for combatting it, so as to create fairer outcomes in recruitment, inclusion, progression and procurement within businesses, including greater diversity and inclusion.
